Year 4 pupil wins MP’s Christmas Card competition

The children from Barton Clough Primary School took part in a competition to design a Christmas Card for Stretford and Urmston’s MP, Kate Green. The winning design, submitted by 8 year old Amber Cotton will be sent to hundreds of local businesses, community groups and faith groups throughout the constituency. Ms Green visited Barton Clough Primary School to present Amber with a prize and certificate last week.

There were over 750 entries for the competition and Catrin Owen, Kate’s Constituency Communications Manager commented how high the standard had been this year, making Amber’s success even more impressive.

Amber was delighted to hear the news from Mrs Joanna Goodfellow, headteacher at Barton Clough, in a school assembly, she was overwhelmed and said “I never win anything!”. Her mum and dad, who were invited to attend, were understandably very proud of their daughter’s achievement.

Class teacher, Miss Danielle North commented, “I was very proud of Amber for winning the competition, she worked really hard on her design and coloured it beautifully, well done!”
