Welcome to the PE Page
Every class at Barton Clough gets the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and physical activities across the year with two PE lessons a week.
Children also have the opportunity to take part in a range of extra-curricular activities provided by teachers such as Basketball, Cheerleading and Football.
We are fortunate to have Manchester City working with classes across the school weekly which is a real treat for the children, they work with classes on their ball skills, both throwing and catching and football skills. They also provide a lunchtime club, sports leaders programme and an after school football club. The children are really enjoying working with them.
We are starting the Trafford to Tokyo race across the school, challenging the children to be more active to gain miles for the school chart. Each mile they gain from a range of physical activities in school will go towards a class and school total. We are aiming to get all the way to Tokyo before the Olympics in the Summer.
In the Autumn Term we had a visit from Freddy Fit who completed fun, engaging and challenging fitness activities for the children in school. We had a go at hula hooping, dancing and limbo! The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed it!
In the Spring Term we will be having a visit from Paul Sturgess, a basketball player who is 7ft 7 tall! He will be doing an assembly for the children about his career and how to overcome challenges and diversity. He will then work with each class and show them some basketball skills and tricks.
In the Summer Term we will have the opportunity to work with the Mini Marines. They will be carrying out a resilience activity day across KS2. This will be an amazing opportunity for children to experience an assault course, team building games and learn how to light a fire. They will then toast marshmallows on the fire to end the day.
PE and Sports Premium
The primary PE and Sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The funding is allocated directly to primary schools and may only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport in schools.
